1. From Linda & NEWS

Dear Friends,
What an exciting spring and summer we've had. The Winning Women Conference for women's ministry leaders in Austin, last May, was super!

Our second conference for the Advanced Writers and Speakers Association this past July in Anaheim was fantastic!

Currently, we are looking for a women's ministry team who would team with us to present our next Winning Women's Conference -- for your church and community. This conference will help equip your women's ministry team and the women's ministry team at other area churches with helps and encouragement. If you would like to explore this idea, please contact our Winning Women Conference Director, Betty Voshage.

2. Encourage Yourself

Sometimes you may wonder why you go to all the effort to reach out to the women in your church and community? Do they really appreciate it? Sometimes that seems like a good question. But perhaps the better question would be, why are you involved in ministry in the first place?

Forget the applause -- forget the appreciation -- just seek Jesus. When you focus on seeking and serving Him, you'll find an even higher motivation and joy for doing what you do.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Gal 6:8-9 NIV

3. Bible Studies

Over-all or By the Book?
Eva Marie Everson

Eva Marie EversonBefore you begin teaching the Word of God, you must decide if you will do so as an overall concept or "by the book." For example, several teachers at Life Training Center (where I teach) teach the Bible in concepts. Studies on virtue, mercy, becoming men and women after the heart of God, healing past emotional hurts, etc. are all topics that can be taught USING the Scriptures or based on certain books of the Bible. I have chosen to teach the Word of God book-by-book; I began in Genesis and, over the last five years, we have crept our way through to 2 Kings! I am not teaching a "concept" but word-for-word, verse-by-verse, book-by-book.

Choosing a method of teaching requires only ONE thing before you get started: Go to the Lord in prayer. Ask Him what method will work best for you and the group you will be teaching. If you follow His direction, you won't go wrong!

4. BULLETIN BOARD

OUR LAST QUESTION:

Nicole asked "I would love for our women’s ministry to reach out into our community. But how? Any ideas? What has worked for you?"

ANSWER:

From: Barbara Reffey
Pleasant View Missionary Church
Greenville, Ohio

Our Women's Ministries hosted a Survivors Night. We invited women from the community to a lovely evening where we gave out beautiful door prizes. We had a speaker from a local hospital talk about breast cancer. Then three women from our church, who are breast cancer survivors, told their stories and how God was with them and brought healing.

We encouraged our church women to sit among the community women. It was a very successful evening.

The purpose of the event was to cultivate relationships with the unsaved and plant seeds of the gospel.

NEXT QUESTION:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jeannie asks, "feel God is calling me to write. But I just don't know where I'll find the time. Any suggestions? "
This is an open question to this mailing list. Responses may be sent to WINNING WOMEN via email, include:Your name and response. Subject line should read: JEANNIE'S Question.
I will try to post as many responses as I can in the next newsletter.
PLEASE KEEP RESPONSES BRIEF, UNDER 100 WORDS!
5. BOOK NOTES
The Fingerprints of God...Seeing His Hand in the Unexpected
by Nancy Hoag
Recently Linda asked Nancy Hoag why she wrote the Fingerprints of God and what her hopes are for this book. This is what Nancy had to say:
I wrote it, first, to rehearse what the LORD has done for me and to glorify His name. It was also my desire to encourage women, to tell them He is always watching, always there–and His grace, His mercy and His patience are not just for me but also for them.
My first hope for this book is that women–especially those who don’t yet fathom how very much He cares–will begin to experience not only the depths of His breathtaking love, but His grace and His forgiveness.
Nancy Hoag is an award-winning writer, speaker, and teacher, the author of more than 850 articles, devotions, and columns–as well as four books including Storms Pass, So Hang On! (Beacon Hill)
